I think it’s hard to always have positive vibes, especially when we live in a world with such negativity. But it’s important that we try, because at the end of the day our own positivity goes hand in hand with our own happiness.
For so long I was miserable, I didn’t have anything to focus on or look forward too. So, one day, not so long a go actually, I decided to change that. I made a list of things I dislike about my life (remember, hate is a strong word) and from that moment I promised myself that I would stop doing those things. And then I made a list of things that I love about my life, and I made a promise to myself to do those things more/appreciate those things more. That was just the start…
In no way am I an expert on this topic, but here are some things that have helped me get out of the rut I was living in:
Set goals… It’s important to have things to focus on in life, start a new hobby, enrol in a new evening class, whatever it may be. For me this step involved making a list (what a surprise), I made a list of all the things I want to do by the end of 2016. Blogging is one of them, and here I am…
Eat healthy and be active… The food we put into our bodies obviously has an effect on our mood and energy levels, so make some small changes in your diet and eat more of the good stuff. This doesn’t mean go crazy and give up chocolate and cake, life is all about balance. Also adding in exercise can help, I’ve started swimming, as it is brilliant exercise, but also fairly easy. Even just going on walks is great; exercise, fresh air and maybe even some nice scenery. And don’t forget if we feel good about our bodies it will show.
Do good deeds… It is proven that making other people happy, will make ourselves happy, so lets do it more often. Doing little acts of kindness will spread positivity.
Declutter your life and personal space… It may be a bit late in the year, but have a spring clean. And I don’t just mean your room/home. Clear out the people that don’t make you feel your best, this is imperative to being more positive. You may not realise it at first, but these people will bring you down, and block the sun from shining down on you. SO GET RID. And just like me, make a list of the things you dislike about your life and stop doing them.
Now on to decluttering your personal space. A tidy space, is a tidy mind. Clear out all the junk that you have no purpose for, you could even give things away to someone who may need/want it, which would make someone else happy (going back to my previous point), once you’ve done this, design your space to your liking. Having space that you enjoy being in will be useful when it comes to achieving all of those goals that you have set.
And lastly, don’t forget to smile… Pretty self explanatory really.
